Audiobook Builder is a tool that allows you to convert audiobooks recorded on CD to a format suitable for listening on Apple iPod digital players.
Mac OS X has a special M4B format for audiobooks, which is the standard format of the iTunes store. Therefore, in order to download an audiobook not purchased from the iTunes Store to your iPod or iPhone, you must have the tools to create m4b files yourself.

There is nothing special about M4B: it is exactly the same as AAC. But still, almost all audiobooks you can find on the Internet are encoded in MP3 format. Moreover, an audiobook usually consists of many such files. Audiobooks created with Audiobook Builder are recognized by the player and appear in the “Audiobooks” section of the menu. The user can add metadata to audiobooks by specifying their title, author’s name and cover image. It is also possible to add additional graphic files to the audiobook files, which will be displayed on the player screen while listening to the “Audiobook List”. The developers point out that the created audiobooks allow the creation of bookmarks: After stopping playback, the user can resume listening from the same place, either in iTunes or on the iPod.
